Women’s Jeans Jacket

You can judge a jeans jacket the first time you try it on, by the way it falls from the shoulders. Soeur offers two quite different versions. The first is short and straight, with a rounded neckline and toggle fastening. It ends at the waist and wears like a light layer, in cotton and recycled cotton fabric softened by washing for the Agatha. The second is looser and longer, with a shirt collar and flap pockets, inspired by workwear. Two shapes, two ways to wear them, and the same borrowing from menswear found throughout our denim pieces.

A short jeans jacket or an oversized jeans jacket?

The choice between the two depends above all on what you wear underneath. The short version defines the waist and structures the silhouette, working well with a loose-fitting bottom, wide-leg jeans or a long skirt. Unlined, it feels supple from the first day. The oversized jeans jacket does the opposite: it envelops, layers and can be worn open over a chunky knit. Our mid-length ecru Lys can be drawn in with ties at the waist to change its shape. How to wear a jeans jacket in winter

The simplest approach is to pair two different blues: a raw denim jacket with light jeans, or the other way round. If both pieces are the same shade, simply add a third element between them, a wool pullover or a white shirt. In winter, a jeans jacket is better worn under a coat than over it. The fabric is dense, making a good middle layer, and the collar lies flat without adding bulk. With a barrel jeans, the short version has the best proportions, letting the line of the leg flow uninterrupted.

A smart jeans jacket or a jeans overshirt?

The difference lies in the weight of the fabric and how the piece fastens. A smart jeans jacket has dense fabric, a structured shoulder and firm buttoning, allowing it to stand on its own over an outfit. A jeans overshirt is cut from softer fabric and worn like a slightly heavier shirt, open over a T-shirt. Every style in the collection belongs to the first category. Raw indigo is the most vivid and quickly develops a patina at the elbows and cuffs. Ecru, meanwhile, sits well with the season’s neutral tones. With a flared jeans, the short version remains the easiest to wear.
